Cleveland Cavaliers: The Sliver of Hope

Dude, I was tappin' this chick last night and her rump was about this big. I was hittin' it and then...

Lebron James totally crapped on this city, so of course the Cleveland Cavaliers have the first and fourth pick of the draft.   There is no way the NBA would allow this franchise to be dumped on any further.

Rest assured, this is simply a token gesture, as the talent in this draft equals the talent when Andrew Bogut was made the #1 pick by the Milwaukee Bucks.    Yeah, yeah, Chris Paul, I know….but what else was there?  The main debate that draft was Marvin Williams or Andrew Bogut.   In this draft, Derrick Williams from Arizona will end up being a Carlos Boozer-type player, the Irving kid from Duke may turn out to be Ok, and you’ll have your run-of-the-mill European picks….but there are no superstars this year, so filling the LeBron void is not happening.

Cleveland will never be able to replace LeBron, and Cavs fans will have to live with that for the rest of their lives.  My advice to them:  Quit the NBA.

I quit the NBA in 2002.  Since then, I don’t really watch any games, but read plenty of sports news to stay in touch.  I’ve been a lot happier since the quittage, since I don’t have to deal with the David Stern strategic marketing plan that ruined the game.  I should point out that I do care enough to know that I still haven’t figured out if I want the Heat to win the championship or if I want their asses handed to them.

On one hand, if they win, every good player in the league will think they have to join forces to win a championship.  This will cause a few franchises to fold eventually, which would be a direct descendant of “The Decision”….which was equally as stupid as everything else NBA.

On the other hand, I just don’t want to see those guys win for two main reasons.  One, I simply want to see their “plan” not work because nobody likes seeing talented people, who not on the home team, actually succeed.  Two, that stupid clip that I have seen 18 million times with Bosh, Wade, and James with the fireworks in the background, and them acting like they own the world before they even played a game, simply makes me sick.   Yes, they deserve to lose because of that.

It is a nice gesture, Mr. Stern, to give Cleveland fans a sliver of hope for a few months, and a positive nugget to chew on.  Byron Scott, you are still my coach of the year, and I still salute your balls, but when you put your “new team” on the floor, I won’t be expecting different results.   Cleveland Fans, enjoy your “win” as much as you can, but do yourself a favor, Quit the NBA….focus on the Indians.   Having an drunk Asian right fielder, with a funny name, is much more entertaining than watching guys attempt to play the game formerly known as basketball.  FU David Stern, FU.
