Brewers Player Power Rankings (07/02/12)

Here is my look at the Brewers 25-man Roster Power Rankings.  There is a change up top, though 1 & 2 are interchangeable.  Aramis and Fiers continue to climb while the bullpen has no one in the top 5.

***NOTE:  The number in parenthesis is change from last week***

#1: OF Ryan Braun (+1) – Ties Cecil Cooper and Paul Molitor for franchise lead in All-Star selections at 5

#2: SP Zack Greinke (-1) – A 9-2 record with a 2.82 ERA and not an All-Star? WOW!  Figured I would snub him also and drop him to #2

#3: 3B Aramis Ramirez (-) – Ramirez finished a solid month of June with a .295 average, 4 homers and 15-RBI

#4:SP Yovani Gallardo (+1) – Gallardo continued his 2012 pace with 2 quality starts this week…however, he went 0-1 in those starts thanks to his offense and bullpen

#5: SP Michael Fiers (+1) – No runs, 2-hits and 10-strike outs in lone start this week…hopefully the Brewers move someone so he can stay up for the rest of the year

#6: OF Norichika Aoki (+1) – Aoki had a hit in all 6-games he played last week and has currently hit safely in 8-straight

#7: RP Francisco Rodriguez (-4) – After a stretch of 1-run in 9-innings, K-Rod gave up runs in his last two outings including a blown save Sunday

#8: 1B Corey Hart (-) – Hart had a couple of 2-hit games this week, right on par to his 2012 season

#9: C Martin Maldonado (-) – Maldonado was right in line with his season this week…continued his solid play

#10: Marco Estrada (NR) – Comes back to the rotation with a quality start…3-runs in 6-innings; seems like a good place to put him on his return

#11: RP Kameron Loe (-1) – Loe was Loe (not low) this week; 3 outings, 3-innings and 1-run

#12: OF Carlos Gomez (+2) – Made the most of his opportunities this week going 3 for 9 in his 2-starts and creating the winning run Sunday

#13: 2B Rickie Weeks (-1) – Weeks push for .200 got no where last week; entered last week hitting .184 and raised that to .185 heading into this week

#14: RP Jose Veras (+1) – Only saw 2-games this week and 1 1/3 innings…however, his strike-out of Justin Upton Sunday moves him up a tad

#15: CL John Axford (-2) – Blew a save and notched a win…kinda the opposite of Axford pre-interleague play

#16: SP Randy Wolf (-5) – Wolf took a step back with a 4-inning 7-run outing Friday night

#17: RP Manny Parra (+2) – A nice week for Manny with 3-scoreless outings

#18: IF Cody Ransom (-1) – Ransom had a big game against Arizona tying a career high with 4-RBI…not much else

#19: OF Nyjer Morgan (-3) – 5-starts this week and just 3-hits…And that doesn’t count pushing a fan in Cincinnati

#20: C George Kottaras (-2) – Not much from George this week…1 for 5.  Did see a report where he could be a trade possibility; that’s good

#21: IF Cesar Izturis (+2) – 1-good game and 3 Ceaser games this week…good game better than the rest of the Roster’s bottom-feeders

#22: IF/OF Travis Ishikawa (-) – Has just 1 hit in 7 at-bats since coming off the DL

#23: IF Taylor Green (-1) – Big hit Tuesday in the Cincinnati loss but that’s it for him…hitting just .203 on the season

#24: RP Tim Dillard (-2) – Dillard had a good week going before giving up the only two-runs in Saturday’s 10-2 win…moves down instead of up

#25: RP Livan Hernandez (-) – did anyone expect anything else from him?

Dropped from the Rankings:  #24: RP Mike McClendon – sent back to the minors when Estrada came back
