Brewers Player Power Rankings (07/31/12)
My mother always told me to start what I finish…well, not sure it was Mom but someone did. Brewers Power Rankings Continue
***NOTE: The number in parenthesis is change from last week***
#1: OF Ryan Braun (-) – Who else? Can I just skip #1 the rest of the year?
#2: 3B Aramis Ramirez (-) – His tear continues as his averaged is up to .288 including a .405 stint in his last 10-games
#3: 1B Corey Hart (+2) – I really hope he sticks with first base; he looks like he has been there for a while. Sorry Gamel!
#4: SP Michael Fiers (+2) – His numbers can make the argument that he is the best pitcher in baseball since he was called up (Thanks Ryan Kartje of FS Wisconsin for that line)
#5: C: Jonathan Lucroy (NR) – 4-for-13 in his return…good to see him back on the field
#6: SP Yovani Gallardo (-2) – Blow-up Yo returned in his last start…7-runs in 5-innings for the once again “ACE” of the rotation
#7: OF Norichika Aoki (-) – 4-game hit streak, .277 average, and solid defense…Aoki remains one of the most consistent Brewers
#8: SP Marco Estrada (-) – A nice outing Monday (2-runs in 7-innings) but a rough one last week in Philly keep him where he is
#9: C Martin Maldonado (-) – when your back-up catcher is your 9th best player, you got issues!
#10: OF Carlos Gomez (+8) – After the week he has had, its hard not to place him top-10; 4-homers, 9-RBI, and 12-for-30 from the plate since last Monday
#11: 2B Rickie Weeks (+3) – Can his bust out week get him going? 3-multi hit games with a couple of bombs and his average is now .207
#12: RP Manny Parra (-2) – Lone performance of the week was a disaster…4-runs against the Phillies. Before that, he had been brilliant (0-runs in his last 9-games)
#13: SP Randy Wolf (-2) – Wolf was very “Wolf” in his lone outing of the week…7-innings, 4-runs on 9-hits
#14: CL John Axford (-1) – Sunday against Washington the lone blemish in his last 7-outings…with this bullpen, I’ll take it
#15: RP Kameron Loe (-) – Continues to lead the Brewers bullpen statistically…yup! Don’t believe me? See for yourself…And yes, Dillard is 2nd
#16: IF Cesar Izturis (-) – Despite his 3-hit night in Houston Monday, he reminds me how much I like (potentially) the Greinke trade
#17: IF Cody Ransom (-) – A big home run brightens what has been a dim stretch for Ransom
#18: OF Nyjer Morgan (+2) – Nyjer has made the most of his starts producing a hit in his last 6-starts
#19: SP Mark Rogers (NR) – Rogers debuts at 19 after allowing 2-runs in 5 2/3 innings Sunday, a game he should have won…BULLPENNED!
#20: RP Jim Henderson (NR) – only 1-hit allowed in 2 1/3 innings…10-years in the minors well worth the wait for Henderson
#21: RP Francisco Rodriguez (-9) – words can not describe the week that K-Rod had
#22: RP Jose Veras (-3) – 6.75 ERA in his last 10-games…can the Brewers get Casey McGehee back?
#23: IF/OF Travis Ishikawa (-2) – Is he still a Brewer?
#24: RP Livan Hernandez (-) – He is what he is…
#25: RP Mike McClendon (NR) – He is on the roster…just waiting to see him again
Dropped from the list: #3: SP Zack Greinke (traded), #22: SP Tyler Thornburg (sent to AAA), #23: C George Kottaras (traded), & #25: Jeff Bianchi (sent to AAA)
