Nintendo owes us a Porsche

Every now and then we all look back upon our college days and smile at the stupid shit we did, and the great times we had. Well, this weekend I received a text from my friend who, at one time in his life, was my college (one of my colleges) roommate. The text simply included a picture of a letter we received from Nintendo. I then remembered the completely absurd letter we sent to Nintendo which initiated their response.

A little back story. While it was the early 2000s, we still played the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) almost as much as we did the Playstation II and other gaming systems. Why? Because the NES rocks. The games are simple, fun and nostalgic. We even held Tecmo Bowl Tournaments and RBI Baseball Tournaments.  One of the games we played from time to time was “Wheel of Fortune” by Gametek.

In single player mode, if you could beat the very challenging A.I., you had the privilege of playing the bonus round where the contestant (in this case a drunk 20 something) could choose a prize if they successfully completed the bonus round word puzzle. Well, WE DID IT. We beat the final bonus round! We were then offered a choice of prizes including; A cash reward, a trip to Hawaii, a furniture set (who chooses this in a video game….really) and a Porsche. The winner could choose one, we chose the Porsche!!!

It is clear, by this screen shot, that we won a Porsche.

So, clearly we won the Porsche. It only makes sense to let Nintendo know that we have won this prize and will be anxiously awaiting our vehicle. So, like any well rounded, slightly intoxicated, college dude with not much else do to…would do…we authored a letter to Nintendo. We included the above picture (showing the Porsche prize reward) an sent it off to Nintendo.

Makes sense right? Short and to the point. We played your game, we beat your game, you promised us a car, we would like said car.

Well, Nintendo responded, quite quickly I might add. Not the result we expected.

Funny shit

To this day we still think we were entitled to a Porsche. We beat the game…..false advertising on the Part of Gametek and Nintendo? You decide.

Does Nintendo and/or Gametek owe us a Porsche?
